I think it's very clear how much we like PokerRoom.com at our site and trust me I speak from first hand experience)
At the end of this explanation I'm going to give you a link and a banner you can click on to sign up and become an affiliate of PokerRoom, through their PokerAffiliate.com division. (that's if you'd like to be a part of this multi-million dollar industry) In fact, click on any link on this page and it will take you to their affiliate sign up page.
A poker affiliate is someone who refers players to PokerRoom.com . The referred player has to open up either a real money or play money account at PokerRoom.com in order to get credit. Typically, there are two ways you can send players to PokerRoom.com and keep track of your referrals.
1- Online Marketing - where you build an informational website(s), much like ours, that deals with online Texas Holdem poker. If someone clicks through one of the banners (or links) on your site (after reading your well written pages), PokerRoom.com knows that player came from your site... per a tracker attached to the banner or link. The goal here is to send as many players as possible to PokerRoom.com where you can share in the profits generated from the referred player. I'll explain more about the profits in a minute...
2- Offline Marketing where you try and refer players to PokerRoom.com through means other than the internet. Typically this will be done with fliers, cards, posters, live tournament promotions, etc. The fliers will contain a code (equivalent to the online banner tracker) that the player has to enter when opening the account at PokerRoom.com ... usually referred to as a 'Bonus Code',in order for you to get credit for the referral. (This method can be alot more labor intensive and I'd suggest taking the online marketing route for starters)
Here's an example of what a successful offline promotion would look like... take a college where a lot of students play online poker(which is most every college these days) After signing up as an affiliate at PokerRoom.com and receiving your bonus code(s) and(or) trackers, you organize private online games and tournaments where players can play from the convenience of their computer whenever they like... and your making $$$ everytime they play... for the life of the account. It's a pretty powerful concept and cool business model.
If you work hard through either channel... the results can be incredible. There are reports that cite the top online poker affiliates earning upwards of $100,000 a month, although most make a lot less. If I had to estimate, I'd say the majority of successful affiliates make between 2k-50k a month.
After I refer the players to PokerRoom.com how do I get paid? Typically you can choose from one of two payment options at PokerRoom.com . You can earn as much as 40% in shared revenue or up to $150 in CPA. What this means is you can earn up to 40% of the revenue your referred player generates, at PokerRoom.com, for the life of the account... or... a one time $150 payment per qualifying player referral, also known as a CPA (Cost Per Acquisition).
It's up to you to decide which way you want to go, in fact, you can do a bit of both... that way your getting paid on some referred players quickly and some will provide a stream of ongoing revenue for the life of their account.
