Online Poker Room

For advanced poker players, you can open real money accounts, and play in single table and multi table online tournaments. They are a lot of fun. Texas Holdem Poker is all about Odds, table position, and betting strategy. In many ways it is a lot like the game Backgammon.

Real Money Single Table Tournament games are my overall favorite. These games can last 40-60 minutes if you make it to the final 3 players out of 10 starting players. For a $5 entry poker game, you can win $20, $30 or $50 if you can get to 3rd, 2nd or 1st place respectively. Of course the prize money increases with respect to the entry fee. Tournament entry fees start at just $5, and have a number of levels all the way up to $100. Maybe you will find me (PuzzleMaker7) playing in the $5, $10 and $20 single table games some day.

Real Money Multi Table Tournament games can last 2 to 4+ hours if you make it to the final 5% of the starting number of players. (Sometimes up to as many as 300-1000 players) For a $5 entry tournament, you can win from $50 to $500+ if you can get to the final 5 placements respectively. Of course the prize money increases with respect to the entry fee. Like Single Table Tournaments, the entry fees start at just $5, and have a number of levels all the way up to $100 entries. A personal friend of mine won over $12,000 in a $100 Multi Table tournament. I rarely have the time to engage in multi table tournaments, because they take so long to play, however in the games that I have played, I have made it to the prize money several times. They payoff is quite nice, if you have the time, skill and luck to get to the top 5 or 10 places depending on how many people originally stated playing in the game.

Real Money Ring Games, also known as Cash Games, are great for a quick 5 to 30 minutes of play action. Here you have to be very careful though, as the amount of money you can win or loose on a single hand of cards is significantly increased. You are playing with Real money straight up, dollar for dollar. I do not recommend that a beginner player engage in Cash games until they have played in the much safer Single and multi table tournaments for at least 50 tournaments. Experience is highly recommended before playing in a cash game. Only after playing poker for about a year have I begun to play at some cash game tables. I am glad I waited, as I have done well here.

If you ask me the question... "Is playing online poker safe?" I will categorically tell you YES. I was very skeptical about opening a poker account my first time in late 2003. I did not understand what it was all about, and I did not trust that my personal information would be properly respected. (It turns out they really do not ask you for much personal information) Looking back, I now realize that it was all needless worry. I am a private person, and must say that I could not be happier with my online poker experience.
